Coccinella septempunctata  Linnaeus, 1758
Main synonym = Coccinella 7-punctata    Linnaeus, 1758
Taxonomical Classification:  Animalia / Arthropoda / Insecta / Coleoptera / Coccinellidae
Seven-spot Ladybird, Sevenspotted Lady beetle     Nannakola tas-seba' tikki
Further Information:
Both its common name and its latin name deriving from the pattern on its elytra, this species is unmistakable. Occurring on plants which are infested by aphids, this ladybird devours the pest insects and so is considered beneficial in gardens. Though the species occurs throughout the whole year, cold weather prompts beetles to seek shelter individually or in sizeable groups, usually under bark. 7-8 mm in length.
